Salmon industry photograph collection, ca. 1920s.

This collection consists of 231 black-and-white photographs, including some with captions. Subjects include Alaskan fish canneries (including the Snug Harbor Cannery) , landscapes and ships. Many of the people seem to be employees of the canneries -- fish processors, cooks and bakers -- at work and at play. Also included are photographs documenting travel through the Inside Passage.

Candace "Candy" Waugaman, an Alaska resident since the late 1960's, has collected historical postcards and photographs, ephemera such as travel brochures, sheet music, books, and memorabilia from Alaska and the Yukon for over 20 years. Her personal collection numbers over 40,000. Ms. Waugaman's collection has been featured by the Anchorage Museum of History and Art for an exhibit, "Gold Fever in the North."
